Paxman Fine Rotor Oil for Close Tolerance Rotary Valves

Paxman's Fine French horn rotor oil is designed for horn rotors that have very high tolerances.

Higher level horns tend to have a very fine gap internally between the rotor and the valve casing. With such a small gap, it is easy for a slightly thicker rotor oil to hinder the rotation of the valve, rather than assist it. The Fine rotor oil is much lighter than regular oil in order to avoid this.

As your horn ages and the valves undergo regular use, this gap will slightly increase. This is when a regular thickness oil should be considered.

Apply by placing several drops down your tuning slides directly into the rotor. Take care that the oil does not slide down the insides of the slide legs, as this will wash slide grease into the rotors as well causing them to become sticky.
